ADN Astragale – Chromotest

The TOXEM laboratory, specialized in medical genotoxicity, was commissioned to demonstrate the anti-genotoxic potential of the ADN-Téloméractives© product.

The SOS-Chromotest is a colorimetric test that uses a genetically modified strain of E. coli, in which a partial gene deletion and a fusion between genes have been performed. The so-called « SOS » system is activated when DNA damage occurs. If a defect in the DNA leads to a block in replication, a protein binds to the blocked area and becomes activated.

Thus, using a specific reagent we measure the induction of this activity: the SOS Induction Factor (SIF).

The strain studied was also exposed to a fixed concentration of a reference genotoxicant as well as to different concentrations of the product whose antigenotoxic potential was to be assessed. The antigenotoxic potential of the Téloméractives® DNA product was measured against a direct genotoxicant as well as a progenotoxicant.
In the presence of direct and pro genotoxicants, the product ADN Téloméractives® induced a significant dose-dependent decrease in the SIFs obtained for this reference genotoxic molecule.
The graphs demonstrate a strong activity of the anti-genotoxic potential (up to four times less genotoxic activity in the presence of the product depending on the concentrations).
